Some Guest Testimonials

"There are few get-aways as charmingly dreamy as E'Terra, situated in the Tobermory region of Ontario, Canada.

Throughout our stay E'Terra kept true to its unspoken promise of understated and whispered delights at each turn.

And the fierce joy of the owner and employees in what they have collectively accomplished is palpable.

The food is organic and local; and the surroundings original and eco-responsible to a fault.

Nested along the Cambrian cliffs of Canada's less travelled but captivating Bruce Peninsula; with the famous Bruce Trail running through the E'Terra property -- this is an eclectic spa resort of international stature.

As a media executive, it's also a comfort to recognize E'Terra's support of the film and TV industry such as Toronto's annual Hot Docs.

This high-end refuge is a balanced mosaic of pampering, gastronomy, and hard scrabble adventure.

The arts scene nearby is also robust and the visitor should access www.theartmap.com to catch what is in season for the Bruce and magical Manitoulin Island.

The real kicker for the area is the world class scuba diving in Fathom Five National Marine Park with www.pc.gc.ca as a handy site to get details.

This is possibly the best fresh water diving on the planet; and I would urge the diver on a limited schedule to check out the City Of Grand Rapids (a steamer of 1879 vintage) sunk in shallow water about 30 meters/100 feet from other wrecks such as the Sweepstakes which sunk in 1885.

E'Terra has all the on-site kayak and canoe amenities to explore the rugged shoreline.

All of which is tastefully rewarded by fine linens and finer food at days end.

This is a "bring your own wine" opportunity too - so calling ahead for the menu excitement is a good idea if pairings mean something to you.

Not the least of E'Terra's attributes is the deft interplay of landscape and architecture yielding a decidedly unique flavour of clean lines and contemporary edge.

Oh, and if you want conversation just ask your well-travelled E'Terra host to talk about her bear training days - and that mountain lion in the kitchen tale!"

"A few weeks ago my wife Terri and I returned to E’Terra for our second stay.  We were delighted and amazed to find that the sheer beauty of Laurie Adams’ brilliant eco-resort, which we had never forgotten, had been impossible to retain in its full strength in our memories: one does not visit E’Terra for the first time; it turns out, until one visits it for the second time.  Everything about E’Terra is breathtaking: the elegant furnishings; the lovely works of art; the unbelievably luxurious beds and bedding; and the astoundingly delicious breakfasts and dinners.  Even the wonderfully integrated textures and colours of the wood in the staircases are testimony to the thoughtfulness and attention to detail that have gone into the planning of the resort (and I have not yet even mentioned the beauty of the Georgian Bay setting).  Finally, there is the courtesy, humour, and helpfulness of the staff (thank you, Darlene, for your attention to the small details that made our trip such a complete pleasure; and thank you Pamyla and Brad: the massages were superb!).  E’Terra is a place to go to be rejuvenated in both body and spirit.  It is also a place to go to learn.  Conversations with Laurie, whose knowledge of contemporary issues in ecology seems boundless, are always fascinating.  We are thrilled to know her and her staff and to be part of E’Terra’s history."

We would like to thank you so much for making our Wedding on May 19th a very special day.The heart filled thoughtfulness and hard work from all of you has filled our hearts with great gratitude. Having our ceremony at the inside spiritual waterfalls surrounded with candles and unique architectural decor, our wedding pictures taken with the breathtaking view of Georgian Bay and the food that was first class by all means, has given us memories that will last use forever. Our two night stay was extraordinarily romantic. E'Terra in our hearts is the most incredible place on earth to share your love with your loved one. Laurie, we thank you personally for creating just an amazing Lodge that touched our hearts in more ways then we can express. Thank you with lost of love and laughter.

I just wanted to congratulate you on creating a wonderful, fabulous place. I had heard so many good things about it. I really enjoyed seeing it all for myself. The party was great fun and it was nice to meet new people and see old friends. Thanks again. The very best of luck in the future.

E’Terra is a place where a culture of thoughtfulness exists - it is a place of rejuvenation for both the heart and the mind. Every aspect of E’Terra - its wondrous situation overlooking Lake Huron; the marvelously shifting angles and perspectives that one finds as one walks through its interior spaces; the gorgeous furniture and wonderful works of art that enrich the individual suites and common areas - speaks to the thoughtfulness, intelligence, and care upon which and with which it was built. Every room is unique and uniquely beautiful, and their distinctiveness ultimately combines to create a spirit that both exceeds its parts and invests the whole. This is a place to dwell, to remember, and to reconstitute what matters. Yet, while the beauty of the architecture and décor tell their own story, fully to appreciate E’Terra we recommend that you take a tour of it with its owner, Laurie Adams. Laurie is the creator, the moving force behind this lovely place. To learn from her the history of E’Terra is a fascinating experience. Her process of, and dedication to, learning are as inspiring as the history and content that she has to convey. The combination of its beauty and the spirit of the people who built it and work there make E’Terra a place like no other.

E’Terra is pure non-pretentious luxury accommodations in a beautiful rustic environment. Laurie has done an amazing job combining the amenities of afive-star hotel in a quaint luxury retreat. Chef Jerrit Raney has created culinary masterpieces that far surpass our wildest expectations, bringing out the best in local produce. We loved our room and all the personal touches that made our stay so memorable. We cannot wait to come back!

“E’Terra is an absolutely brilliant inn. Unique, welcoming, soothing and ever-so-comfortable. The meals were excellent and the setting, well, there are hardly appropriate words for such a fantastic site – let alone how you have managed to integrate function into form.”

“E’Terra is a feast for the senses and the palate. A nature-based hideaway of wood and stone to soothe the soul and spirit tucked discretely in the trees of Tobermory. “
