Tobermory
Nearby, this little town of Tobermory offers historic sights, museums, galleries, artisan shops, native crafts and culture, along with restaurants on the boardwalk in the harbour. Tobermory has a small airport, marina, and medical facility including a hyperbaric chamber. Like many other tourism communities, there is a large influx of people during the summer season, and then in the shoulder seasons of spring and fall, the real eco tourism venture here to witness the changing seasons without the crowds.

Historically, the village saw it first settlers arriving the mid 1800’s, fishing, farming and lumbering for their livelihood. At one time the town boomed as did many with steamships and sailing sloops coming into port with a year round population double that of today. Now there are only small traces of these industries left, with the focus being tourism, cottagers and retirement properties of the Baby Boomer generation.

Tobermory, at the tip of the rugged Bruce Peninsula, has been home to the Adams’ family since the 1870’s. Homesteading fed the large Adams’ families of whose descendants have now mostly moved away. E’Terra is a small part of all that remains of a once large farming, timbering and horse estate. Respect for the land and awareness of its importance to the survival of humankind and animals has been a way of life for this family for generations.
